Support Letter

Dear Family and Friends, Spring 2009

Several years ago now, many of you came alongside me in my trip to Arusha, Tanzania where I lived and taught English with Youth With A Mission. My experiences there were so meaningful, formative, challenging, and fulfilling. I am still in touch with several of my students and supervisors, and feel like I have a family in that part of the world. Thank you for all of your support in allowing that trip to happen!

Since then, I have completed the first half of my Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary. This has been a time of equipping: growing in my understanding of God and theology, and growing as part of the Fuller community. I am so grateful that God has called me to such a unique place for this period of my life.

I want to share an opportunity God has given me for this summer to further equip me during my time in seminary.
When I first returned from Africa, God started speaking to my heart about Israel and has continued to during my time at Fuller. Through research, prayer, and God bringing things together, I discovered that Fuller has a partnership with a school in Jerusalem allowing any classes I take there to count for credit with Fuller in Pasadena. So…it is with great excitement that I say, I am going to Israel this summer!

I will be taking two classes with Jerusalem University College: Jesus and His Times and Geographical and Historical Settings. In Jesus and His Times I will spend one week in the Galilee region and one week in the Jerusalem region following the chronology of the life of Christ and studying the geographical, historical, and cultural setting of Israel during Jesus’ time. In Geographical and Historical Settings I will learn about the geography, history, and archaeology of Israel through daily regional field studies. In addition, I will be doing the Jordan extension program in which I will spend the weekend exploring that area with the school. I believe these classes will further equip me with the tools I need to teach the Bible in the most authentic and soundly based way I can. (www.JUC.edu)

If you would like to come alongside me in this time of equipping I would greatly appreciate your support. Your prayers and encouragement during my time in Africa truly sustained me. I have included a card for you to fill out if you would like to be part of my prayer team, blog, and follow-up party. I would love to share with you the many things I will learn during my time in Israel. If you feel called to contribute financially I have included an outline of expenses so you know exactly how I will be using your contributions. You can make checks payable to Christina Miller and mail them to the address below. Please do not feel obligated in any way to contribute financially, especially during this economic climate.
